A Global Open Mic

"
. Hear ye; hear ye!

. In In cooperation with Creative Ideas - Dr.Dan - and The Global Poetry Network - we present:

The Global Open Mic
"If no one will give us one, we may as well make it ourselves!

You are a but a few clicks away from thousands of hours of live recorded poetry and dozens of virtual venues the world over. So, join in in the fun; explore great new venues and boldly go wherever new poets are to be found!

Network our community, encourage support for justice, freedom, life, and liberty - Poetry for the People!

But there is much more so I am spelling it out: poets can create global change.

You might ask what can poets do even if they
could agree on anything. I say we poets can create a model for a very certain way forward to creating a world of peace, prosperity, freedom, justice and liberty. An idea from which more great ideas will come, and change, more than one might ever hope for today, will come to pass and it may not take very long at all.

It will be easy for anyone to lend a hand - and it will be as simple as making friends, sharing your concerns, and talking to one another again and again - simple networking.

What is this idea to create civilizational evolution? Well, it starts with using this page.

First, we poets begin going to the venues listed here and networking with each other the world over, and continuing on to do the same through any poetry venue we attend, whether it is virtual, hybrid, or live. We support one another and build this listing so even more poets can network with even more poets. Poets can help to add venues and listings, as easily as sending an email.

Second, we cooperate to create a means of polling ourselves, as poets, on vital issues. We create a web based means of sharing the results of those polls. While I don't have the skills to do that many others do. When we have tens of thousands participating in the polling we begin to promote our perspective in as many ways as we can, mainly promote the idea of personal polling.

Other groups or peoples will build their global community polling and
as they find their voices and are better able, to understand their needs and preferences, without mass media, political powers, or 1%ers - having influence on what questions are asked and which answers are disseminated. Then we, the people, will learn how to ask our own questions of ourselves; we, the people will have our own answers and so understand our perceptions of who we are, what we need, think or believe to be true!

Third, together we create a global system of polling, so that millions, then billions, can have a voice. We, the people will be heard and our voices will never again be put down. Any issue, any time, any one, any where - Power to the People!

How to do it all?
iVote is the way forward. It cannot be stopped. I say this because, if thousands of people perhaps many more and numerous organizations around the world, can create virtual currencies, beyond governmental control, and secure systems to do that and more, then we, the people, can surely create a secure global polling system hat cannot be shut down! While I don't have those skills either there are many who do - the future is ours!

Imagine global polling:

For examples: What would all the women in the world want or say they need?

What would the indigenous poor, or victims of war say about justice and freedom?

What leader or nation could withstand polling that proved they had no support?

What others can you think of, there must be many, many, many!

]. .. .. . .. . .. . .. . .. . .. .. . .. . .. . . .. . ..

.
.
Going Global:

Imagine helping everyone find events in the 24-7, World-Wide, community of poets, venues, and events!

There are ways to make this page even better, here's how to:
Add - Edit - Replace - or - Remove a Listing

If you want to explore the zoomiverse and find new venues for this list see:
The Explorer's Page - grow the mic

Being global,
the venues are organized by day of the week, with local start times converted to Universal Time (UTC or GMT)

Be advised some nations have seasonal time changes, while this listing uses standard time only - for clarification:
Universal Time

How to visit a venue:

.. .

#1 * Find venues, active at the moment, see the Universal Time display -> -> ->

- Go to The Calendar, find the day and scroll down to the hour shown, then -
... . ... . ... ..
-
if there is a link - select it.

- Venue listings provide contact information.

-
If there is no link, there are no venues starting that hour; this then means you'll need to plan a visit - see #2:

#2 * To plan a visit, have a convenient day and time in mind.

- Open the link to the time converter -> -> ->

- Select its 24 hour option.

- Enter your time zone or city in the lower left
-
your local time will show in the box above it.

- Then, in the lower right box, enter UTC and your time, converted to UTC, will appear above that

- Then, go to The Calendar, to the day, and scroll to that hour if there is a link - select it, if there's no link try those near it.

#3 * To find a particular person or place:

-
One can use a browser's text search function to find specific persons, places, or venues.

For a back up display: World Time Server

... ...
Some nations change their time from March to November -
for venues in those nations search the hour prior to the times
shown above
.

For a back up display: World Clock Converter

.
The Calendar - and how to read it

. * Yellow cells with a link and "LS" indicate Live Streaming venues starting that hour --

.. * Yellow cells with a link and "RL" indicate a venue's videos Recorded Live - you'll see this in the listings:

Daily 24 - 7

.. * Yellow cells without links indicate earlier venues may be still active so you may have to plan a visit - a white cell indicates no active venues - which also means you'll have to plan a visit...

Day + Local Standard Time:
Fridays: 7 pm MT,
Host/Contact:
Cortney Collins: grasshoppa@yahoo.com

"We change the Zoom link weekly to safeguard against Zoombombing, as a few of our members have experienced traumatic
Zoombombings elsewhere.

Our Face book group, Zoem Poetry Open Mic:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/315364949630804 Please answer the
questions or we will assume you are a bot:

We disseminate everything via our Zoem-specific email list (65 members at present) and the Face book group. This includes the link to the weekly
Google doc signup sheet, disseminated Mondays, and the weekly Zoom link, sent out Fridays. We send both in both places, for the non-social media people.

Our only guidelines are:
1) No hate or hate speech whatsoever--all the "isms" and "phobias" we are all aware of, 2) Zoem is a kindness & encouragement
only space (no feedback on our work, constructive or otherwise), and
3) 5-minute time slots. We do bring poetry with adult themes liberally, and have been known
to share works with F-bombs, for example, so attendance by minors (18 and under) is discouraged. Please email me to get on the list to receive all relevant links.

I hosted every Friday until about mid-October 2020, and then handed the venture off to the community. We now rotate hosting duties. Anyone interested is more than
welcome and encouraged to host. The host is also responsible for bringing a prompt on Fridays, with which we build our collective poem, our Zoetry, as it's come to be
called, in the chat room. Curation and editing of the weekly Zoetry is also on a rotating, volunteer basis, and is a lot of fun!"

About Coordinated Universal Time (UTC GMT

Venues are listed by their Universal Time, UTC (GMT), which is based on their local standard time. Because some nations change their time, March to November, to find venues in those nations, during that period, one must search the hour prior to the time shown above. To see which ntions change time seasonally use these two simple maps

See these links for more detailed explanations:..... UTC city and country mapping..... World Time Buddy: Converts between locations..... Timebie: for UTC-GMT Resources

Add - Edit - Replace - or - Remove a Listing:

There are two kinds of listings: Live Streaming, (LS) for venues with a scheduled time and Recorded Live, (RL) for archives of recordings made at the venue and available for viewing. A venue may have both kinds listings. I place copies of RL listings in otherwise open spaces so as to encourage visitors to seek out its related live channel.

....... .To add a venue please email with some or all of these items, I either research what is needed or contact the host to create a listing.

............... ............... Line 1: Venue's Name - City - Nation - Language(s) - the local start time and day - and UTC if you know it
............... ............... Line 2: Host(s) who to contact and how
............... ............... Line 3: Links for streaming, social media, instructions in order to participate, as well as a description of the venue

............... ............... If you host a venue and have and have an archive of publicly available recordings (RL) - I'll add this your venue's listing:

............... ............... Line 1: Venue's Name - City - Nation - Language(s)
............... ............... Line 2: the link to the source(s) of recordings and a note as to how one accesses them, if needed.

........ ........ .To edit a listing send an email with the name, day, and time of the listing - as well as the changes you'd like to make.

........ ........ .To Remove a listing: The host or organization advises me, and I remove the listing.
