The Global Open Mic
Updated as of 11. 21. 2020

To find Live Streaming Poetry. .About Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) . .Add a Listing . .Global Open Mics

... .. . ... .What's this all about?

... .. . This is about finding live-streaming poetry, any time of day, any day of the week! Artists and writers of all kinds may enjoy this. While I don't know how many live-streaming, open mic poetry venues there are in the world, I hope we discover them and add them to this listing - if you have questions or ideas please email me ... .. .. Dan

... .. . ... .The next step!

... .. . There is something else. Once we have a goodly number of venues, I'd like to create a polling system so that poets, world-wide, can weigh in on matters great and dear to us, our civilization, and more. Being able to connect with one another, network, and establish relations can happen via this listing, what comes next is becoming conscious of what our perspective is, and this would be done via the Poet's Poll. It can be done, the idea is outlined here: iVote

To find live streaming poetry...

(1) First, to find a venue streaming right now, you'll need to use the current GMT time - see the display below:

(2) Second, to determine if there are venues starting during the hour you can click here.

A channel,
a cell with a link, takes you to a list of venues starting that hour.

A channel,
a cell that is only yellow, may have one or more prior channels may still be running.

If there are no active venues during that hour, go to step three - and plan a visit - -> -> ->

(3) Planning to visit? Dettermine a time and day for a visit, convert you local time to GMT, and look for an active channel active at that day and time. You can convert local time to GMT using this link below.

Also, there are several places that are active 24 -7. You'll find clips of recordings made live at venues.

World Time Server. alternate source for GMT

World Clock Converter, an alternate source

About Greenwich Mean Time:

Wikipedia on GMT. . World Time Buddy: Converts between locations... GMT: city and country guides... Timebie: for GMT Resources

Add a Listing:

There are two choices to consider, Live Streaming, (LS) for venues streaming at a scheduled time, and Recorded Live (RL) for those venues with an archive of recordings that are available for viewing on the web via Youtube Channels or other means. It is important to consider that while the placement of an LS entry is dependent on its scheduled time, the RL entry can be placed anywhere on The Global Open Mic, thus you can have two listings. RL listings are described as being daily and 24 - 7 and careful placement of these entries will encourage visitors to seek out your live channel.

....... ... ..To add a live streaming (LS) venue please email with me the following information in three lines.

............... ............... Line 1: Venue's Name - City - Nation - Language(s) - the local start time and day - or GMT if you know it
............... ............... Line 2: Host(s) who to contact and how
............... ............... Line 3: Links for streaming, social media, instructions in order to participate, as well as a description

..... .. .. ...If your venue records live (RL) and it is posted and publicly accessible, please email with the following information in two lines -
..... .. .. ..v....otherwise I list such information with the venue.

............... ............... Line 1: Venue's Name - City - Nation - Language(s) -
............... ............... Line 2: the link to the source(s) of recordings and a note as to how one accesses the recordings, if needed.

.
Global Open Mics!

* Be aware that many of the venues require prerequisites, checking web pages, sending and receiving email, or registering, or joining, a FB group, for examples

* Note some nations have seasonal time changes such as Daylight Savings time in the USA or British Summer Time so every venue has its local time listed

*The run time for venues vary from a half hour to three hours or more.

* LS indicates a Live Streaming source - note many of these have Recorded Live links attached to them.
* RL indicates a source that was recorded live - note many of these have links to Live Streaming venues.
* Channels, cells, that are only yellow, without links, indicate one or more open mics may be continuing on even though they started earlier.

* There are 168 channels partially used - and right now we have 71% of them being used!
* Note: the row for 0200,
has a complete Horizontal Ring Reading - readings scheduled the same time of day during a week.
* While the columns for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and Sunday are about halfway or more to having an entire day of events.
