.What's
this about?
...
.. . .
1 = Finding live streaming poetry around the
world, networking and making
connections - have ideas or questions for any
of this - please email
Dan
...
.. . .
2 = Creating a 24-7, live streaming resource.
We, hosts and venues together, can
create this. It will be the key to creating a
global community of poets and so help us
communicate with the world. Again, let me
know if you are interested in making this
addtion to this page.
... .. . ... .... .. . . .
What
comes after that?
...
.. . .
3 = The venues could participate in a poet's
poll. As we weigh in on matters
both great and dear, we clarify our
perspective, become more effective at
communicating with others, and so make a
difference. It can be done, the idea is
outlined here: iVote

To
find live streaming
poetry...
.. .
* There are
three steps to finding great world
poetry - see
them below, but please read these notes first.
*1: This listing uses Standard Time for the
start times and I convert that into Greenwich Mean
Time, GMT - this is to accommodate a global
audience.
*2: Please keep in mind: nations using, British
Summer or Daylight Savings Time, from
April through October, set their time ahead one
hour.
*3: To search this page for specific places, cities or
nations, use the web browsers text search function,
usually "command + f" to search the text of the
page.
Step 1
Find
the GMT -> ->
|
T o see if there
are live streaming venues, you'll need to use
the current GMT - see the display to the
right -> ->
|
If the above link is not working the
link below is an alternative
World
Time Server. alternate source for
GMT
|
Step
2
Use
the GMT -> ->
|
Go to listings
for that day and time
here
Any cell with a link is an active channel -
with live venues. Click on the link to go to
the entries for that hour.
A cell without a link, but which is still
yellow, indicates an earlier open mic may
still be running ->
->
|
If a cell is
white, there are no active venues at that
time so you'll have to plan a visit - see
step three below.
|
Step
3
Plan
a visit -> ->
|
Decide on a time
of day best for you and convert that time to
GMT using this link below,
If the above link is not working the
link below is an alternative
World
Clock Converter, an alternate
source
|
To use the converter, enter the time
of day you prefer in the upper left box, The
lower left box, by default, assumes your
local time. bit you may have to enter it.
Then click on the lower right box and type in
GMT.
This converts your preferred local time into
GMT, and then you can go back to step two and
see if there are active venues at that time.
|
Want
instant access?
For instant
access to wonderful poetry, there are links
to recordings from venues. To find these,
first
go here
then scroll down as you observe the column
for"Notes."
There you'll see entries described as Daily,
24 - 7. These have links to poetry recorded
live aat a venue. Each of those entries have
a link to the venue as well.

Add
a Listing:
There are two choices
Live Streaming, (LS) for venues
streaming at a scheduled time, and Recorded
Live (RL) for venues with archives of
recordings available for viewing on the web. It is
important to understand that while the placement of an
LS entry is dependent on its
scheduled time, a venue's RL
entry can be placed anywhere on The Global
Open Mic, thus a venue may have two
listings. RL listings
are described as being daily and 24 - 7. I place of
these entries so as to encourage visitors to seek out
the related live channel.
....... ...
..To
add a live-streaming (LS) venue
please email
with me the
following information in three lines.
...............
............... Line 1:
Venue's Name - City - Nation - Language(s) - the local start
time and day - or GMT if you know it
...............
............... Line 2:
Host(s) who to contact and how
...............
............... Line 3:
Links for streaming, social media, instructions in order to
participate, as well as a description
.....
.. .. ...If your
venue records live (RL) and if it is
posted and publicly accessible, please
email
with the following information in two lines -
..... .. ..
..v....otherwise I list
such information with the venue.
...............
............... Line 1:
Venue's Name - City - Nation - Language(s) -
...............
............... Line 2: the
link to the source(s) of recordings and a note as to how one
accesses the recordings, if needed.

USA - Colorado - Longmont & Loveland - GMT: 0200
Day + Local Standard Time: Fridays: 7pm
MT,
Host/Contact: Cortney Collins: grasshoppa@yahoo.com
We change the Zoom link weekly to safeguard against
Zoombombing, as a few of our members have experienced
traumatic
Zoombombings elsewhere.
Our Face book group, Zoem Poetry Open Mic: https://www.facebook.com/groups/315364949630804
Please answer the
questions or we will assume you are a bot:
We disseminate everything via our Zoem-specific email list
(65 members at present) and the Face book group. This
includes
the link to the weekly Google doc signup sheet, disseminated
Mondays, and the weekly Zoom link, sent out Fridays. We
send
both in both places, for the non-social media people.
Our only guidelines are: 1) No hate or hate speech
whatsoever--all the "isms" and "phobias" we are all aware
of, 2) Zoem is a
kindness & encouragement only space (no feedback on our
work, constructive or otherwise), and 3) 5-minute
time slots. We do
bring poetry with adult themes liberally, and have been
known to share works with F-bombs, for example, so
attendance by minors
(18 and under) is discouraged. Please email me to get on the
list to receive all relevant links.
I hosted every Friday until about mid-October 2020, and then
handed the venture off to the community. We now rotate
hosting duties.
Anyone interested is more than welcome and encouraged to
host. The host is also responsible for bringing a prompt on
Fridays, with
which we build our collective poem, our Zoetry, as it's come
to be called, in the chat room. Curation and editing of the
weekly Zoetry
is also on a rotating, volunteer basis, and is a lot of
fun!
